About Focus In Africa

Founded in 2007, Focus in Africa (FIA) is a non-profit leader in service learning and Adventure in Tanzania; offering international volunteer opportunities including Volunteer Vacations and Safaris.

Focus in Africa (FIA) was set up by Nelson Mbise (Prince Paradise), its founder and director, after spending time organizing different safari trips to East Africa.

Through the hard work of our staff, support of our advisory board, collaboration with our partners, and the participation of hundreds of volunteers each year Focus in Africa (FIA) is dedicated to fulfilling our mission of designing and implementing effective service-learning programs that provide maximum benefit to our program participants and the communities we serve

Focus in Africa (FIA) has earned its reputation as a leader in local volunteerism programs in Tanzania, service-learning and community development and, in 2008, gained Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) status in Tanzania.

FIA now has a fully functioning Board of Directors and Board of Advisors, primarily staffed by our fellow local Tanzanian professionals. FIA Tanzania is recognized as a leading Tanzanian NGO in its cross-section cultural approach to all Communities projects.

We at Focus in Africa (FIA) invite you to come down and volunteer in a way that makes a real impact in the lives of the people of our local community. Our assignments will give you an opportunity to both contribute and to have an experience which will leave you changed forever. You’ll lend a hand through education, care of infants, or working on special projects. You’ll have an opportunity to meet people and make friends in a very unique cross-cultural experience.
